A Clinical Study to Evaluate the Effect of Eperisone Hydrochloride in Patients with Spasticity

Abstract
|
|
|
To evaluate the effect of Eperisone Hydrochloride(Myonal®) in reducing the spasticity of central origin, daily doses of 150mg of Eperisone hydrochloride was administered three times daily in divided doses for 4 weeks to the patients with spasticity while they were admitted to Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Chungnam National University Hospital. Results were as follows.
1. The subjective symptoms were improved in 19 cases(59.37%).
2. The neurologic symptoms were improved in 18 cases (56.23%).
3. The most common untoward general subjective symptom was mild drowsiness. 4. Overall improvement of the antispastic effect was seen in 19 cases (59.37%).
5. Serologic changes were seen in 4 cases but the correlation to the trial medication was not determined.
In conclusion, Eperisone hydrochloride is thought to be the important and useful drug in the management of spasticity of central origin.
